Surya in Negative role!

Surya as his last released film Ayan had its big hit is now with new film Aadhavan. He has decided to experiment with a negative role.

Poochandi got the news that he plays as an anti hero in his next film Aadhavan directed by K.S. Ravikumar. Nayanthara plays the lead role with him and the film will be dubbed in Telugu as well.

The film is now with lot of expectations and would be interesting to watch and also expecting from Nayanthara since she desperately needs a hit to bounce back into the race.

Surya as Surya always

Surya’s latest released film Ayan, had reached the market rate as equal to Rajini’s Shivaji now. After few weeks, even it may take over Shivaji’s market as the audience for this film is increasing day by day.

But Surya talked as normal person as he was before. When questioned about his pet name like others Puratchi thalabathi, Ilam puyal etc., he just smiled and replied that he liked to be as normal Surya as before.

‘Vettaikaran’ vs ‘Aadhavan’

Vijay’s Vettaikaran and Surya’s ‘Aadhavan’ are releasing on this Diwali as Diwali bonus. According to trade sources, this time Vettaikaran may takeover on Aadhavan.

Vijay has completed 70 percent of his film vettaikaran and it is targeted to release on Diwali. Then his next 50th golden jubilee film, Urimai kural is targeted for May 2010.

Surya’s Aadhavan directed by K.S.Ravikumar , produced by Udhayanidhi of Red Giant Pictures, planned to release the film on October 17 worldwide. Marketing works has started already.

Songs shooting of surya’s ‘Aadhavan’

Surya’s ‘Aadhavan’, with Nayantara as his pair , and is produced by Red Giant movies of Udhayanithi Stalin, directed by K.S.Ravikumar. The famous actress of 1970’s , Saroja devi is playing a major role in this movie. Vadivelu, Murali, Sayaji shinde, Ramesh khanna and others occupies the remaining cast. The locations and sets are chosen in different parts with different style.

Every song is given much importance , among them ‘Dekko Dekko’ song with Vaali’s wonderful lyrics, was specially choreographed with 200 supporting artists by Gayathri Raghuram. Surya - Nayanthara and Murali-Saroja devi pair, acted together for the song ‘Masi Masi’ which was shot at Darjeeling . ‘Vaarayo Vaarayo ‘ song was shot in AVM studio in a set designed by art director Rajeevan. ‘Yeno Yeno’ with lyrics of kavignar thamarai’s  was shot in Iceland for ten days and it was choreographed by Dinesh.

Gautham to team up with Surya again?

Gautham Menon is busy working on Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya with Simbu and Trisha and he will soon start working on Chennaiyil Oru Mazhaikalam. Surya will complete Aadhavan soon, and is expected to begin work on his next project Singam.

According to sources, director Gautham Menon also has a romantic thriller in the pipeline and may soon ask Suriya to play the lead role. Gautham shot to fame with Khaaka Khaaka which had Suriya in lead and he is brimming with many more ideas.

Surya and Gautham share an excellent working relationship. Their next film may be a bilingual. Who can forget the chemistry between Surya and Jyotika in Khaaka Khaaka or Surya’s acting in Vaaranam Aayiram!

Surya and Nayantara in Iceland

The lead pair of Surya and Nayantara along with the unit of Aadhavan has taken off to Iceland, a new location for Tamil cinema.

Film makers are always on the lookout for virgin landscapes to shoot songs for their big budget extravaganzas.

K.S.Ravikumar, the director of Aadhavan, one of the hottest films in the trade will be shooting a song choreographed by Dinesh and a part of the climax there.

Iceland is a North Atlantic island in Europe. With this, the film will be almost complete as producer Udayanidhi Stalin plans to release the film big for Diwali 2009.

Aadhavan delays Jaggu Bhai?

The Sarath-Shreya starrer Jaggu Bhai’s release is expected to be put off for the time being. The director of the film, K S Ravikumar has completed the shooting of the film and the post-production work is going on.

Meanwhile, Aadhavan directed by K.S.Ravikumar is creating much hype for the never before role that will be portrayed by Surya. The actor will be seen in a negative role for the first time. With Aadhavan expected to be a mega hit, the director is expected to release the film before Jaggu Bhai to create more marketing space for the latter. The director hopes that the Aadhavan effect will rub over Jaggu Bhai. Aadhavan has Surya and Nayanthara in the lead.

Surya is king in Mumbai

Surya’s Ayan has broken records in Mumbai, the heartland of Bollywood! The Sun Pictures presentation, directed by K.V Anand has become a super hit in Mumbai territory!

Last week the film celebrated 50 days at Aurora in Mumbai, and became the third highest grossing Tamil film after Sivaji and Dasavatharam, and still continues to be hot at the box-office.

“We are amazed by Surya’s box-office pull, especially among the youth and lady audiences. In recent time no regional film has done so well in the Mumbai territory as Ayan. And what is even more surprising is that there are a lot of Hindi speaking audiences who have shown an interest in the film,” says Nambi Rajan of Aurora theatre, who is also the distributor of the film.

Meanwhile Bollywood producers, directors and actors are catching up with Ayan in Mumbai, and are trying to get the remake rights for Hindi. Everybody feels Surya has a great script sense, and Ayan in Hindi may be the next Ghajini!!

Surya may debut as singer

Getting heroes to sing in their films seems to be the order of the day. It does enhance a film’s brand value, and also increases expectations. So we now have leading actors of Kollywood, lending their own voices and some of these songs even turn out to be chartbusters!

Devi Sri Prasad requested Vikram to croon for Kanthasamy, and is in the process of discovering new voices. DSP, as he is popularly known, prefers to be different from the rest of his tribe and knows exactly how to extract the best out of his singers.

It will be quite exciting to listen to our very own Surya sing for his next film. The actor is now busy filming for Aadhavan, and will soon start working on Singam with director Hari. According to reports, Devi Sri Prasad may create the music for Singam, and if it happens, he will surely request Surya to try and sing at least one song!

This indeed will be another feather on Surya’s cap. Let’s hope we get to hear his voice for a foot-tapping number!

Ayan completes 50 days!

Ayan, termed as the biggest Kollywood hit of 2009, has elevated Surya and Tamanna (the lead actors) to a different league! Industry experts the collection was very strong from the release date and the makers are happy the film has done well, capturing the attention of the classes and the masses!

Some of the commendable aspects of Ayan are the stunt sequences and the songs by Harris Jayaraj. Since K.V. Anand is basically a cinematographer, he has visualized most of the scenes well and has given his best. Ayan, a perfect summer treat, lives up to the expectations of most film buffs.

National Award winner K.V. Anand has arrived as a commercially successfully director, since Ayan is the third biggest hit after Sivaji and Dasavatharam. One of the reasons why the film has been successful is because it was enjoyed by family audiences and the younger crowds, with many who saw it more than once.

The director has been receiving offers from many top heroes in Kollywood and Tollywood to direct their next venture.
